First Day Jitters

First of all, welcome to our team, I hope you will enjoy your time with us! We hired you because you have passion, drive, and a great attitude. It is my hope that with these characteristics, you will be an integral contributing factor to the continued success of our organization. We get the first day can be a bit nerve-wracking, so we've put together this guide to help you through. 
 
What to expect from your first week:
Your first week with us is going to be jam packed with structured training time. That means get good sleep, keep your coffee full, your pencils sharp, and be ready to learn. If you haven't already gotten your training schedule you will soon. The goal of the first week is to get you familiarized with our company, our culture, and our team. You'll be doing structured training for about the first two weeks, after which you'll start to focus on your job-specific training. Each training module will be 30-120 minutes with opportunities to work with different team members. 

When you arrive on your first day, plan on showing up about 5 minutes early. We aren't usually open before 9:00, so don't worry about showing up too early. We'd appreciate it if you would fill out our New Employee Survey a few days before you start. This helps us get to know you. 
 
What to Bring
  1. Cell phone- make sure it has the latest update and it’s fully charged. If you can go ahead and download the following apps that would be great!
    1. Slack
    2. Outlook (or use your native email app)
    3. Paycor
    4. Staffmate
  2. Laptop- make sure it has the latest updates and bring your charger. If you have a mouse that will be helpful too! If we are providing you a laptop, we will have it ready. Click here to view our Laptop Specifications.
  3. Documents; 
    1. Driver's License
    2. US Passport OR Social Security card OR Birth Certificate
    3. any alcohol-safety certificates you have - like TIPS or ServSafe
  4. We will provide you with a notebook and pen. 

What to Know
  1. Dress around the office is Business Casual. Just dress in whatever you are comfortable in. 
  2. The first day we’ll treat you to lunch. Plan on bringing a lunch the rest of the week. 
  3. Our office is at 9 McDaniel Avenue, Greenville SC. It can be a bit tricky to find, check the map on the side for help. 
  4. You should have gotten an email from HR Partner to fill out your new hire paperwork. Go ahead and do that before your first day. If you haven't gotten a link, reach out to hr@highspiritshospitality.com
 
Before you start, take some time to peruse the documents on the sidebar. You'll see our Employee Handbook, Benefits Guide, links to Meet our Team, and more. During your training, please feel free to ask any question you can think of. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns at any time, feel free to reach out to Krista, our Manager of Culture & Training, to HR, or to myself.
